Thronged by reporters, health workers, and other government officials at Wilkins Hospital in Harare, Chiwenga went through various stages of the vaccination process leading to the final shot in the arm.

Thursday marked the first day of the vaccination process, beginning with health care workers, police, and other high-risk groups.

The government announced that it plans to vaccinate 10-million people.

Zimbabwe received a donation of 200 000 shots of the Sinopharm vaccine from The People’s Republic of China on Monday and is set to start the inoculation of its citizens against the viral disease.
