Ace Magashule the current Secretary-General of the governing African National Congress (ANC) party and former Premier of the Free State province has denied speculations of an arrest warrant pegged at him for corruption charges.
This follows yesterday’s reports of the matter which was published by the Independent Media’s daily newspaper, The Star.
However, the former Free State Premier has since downplayed the allegations through his lawyer, Victor Nkwashu.
“We have not been formally informed about the warrant of arrest however, if this is true our client will comply.
Moreover, this is not the first time that this issue of this manner has been raised. In the period of 2017/18 this issue was raised but nothing ever happened.
Regardless, we will engage with the relevant authorities to find out what is really transpiring and if that’s the case he will subject himself to the rule of law,” said Nkwashu.

Moreso, the special investigative agency, the Hawks which according to The Star issued the warrant of arrest have since castigated the claims.
“I am the face of the Hawks and nothing like that ever happened. No arrest warrant has been issued.
They are protocols that are followed when issuing an arrest warrant which include informing the lawyer or lawyers of that particular individual and informing that individual before it is disclosed to the general public.
We don’t know where they got this information remember it’s not the first time such allegations have been made. Last year we had a similar incident pertaining to a certain public figure but the truth of the matter is that there hasn’t been any arrest warrant issued,” said Brigadier, Hangwani Mulaudzi, Hawks’ spokesperson.
