The under fire controversial businessman and socialite Tapiwa Mangezi continues to grab headlines for the wrong reasons.
The embattled former Matabeleland Rugby boss is now accused of promoting prostitution at his hotel along Lobengula Street literally next door to the Roman Catholic convent in Bulawayo.
His hotel is a hive of prostitution and has swarms of prostitution soliciting and selling themselves around the clock. Incidentally this hotel-cum-brothel is not far from Rose Camp Police Station.
However, the authorities are said to be receiving bribes from the Mangezi run establishment to look away from offences such as (loitering and soliciting, kerb crawling, paying for sexual services and advertising prostitution) which are taking place at this hotel.
Tapiwa Mangezi has become a notorious name associated with a lot of immorality.
Last year this publication reported on the allegations of sodomy and promotion of homosexuality connected to Mangezi.
This publication has since received more information and evidence pointing to a growing group who are being groomed into homosexual acts by one of Mangezi’s workers named as Lloyd Machanjaira.
Machanjaira is said to be the captain of Mangezi’s rugby team.
He is also said to be coaching rugby at Petra Primary School and co-runs an academy with someone only named as Cleopas. The two are said to be close associates of Tapiwa Mangezi.
Parents and guardians of kids that play rugby at Petra Primary School continued to enquire from this publication about the safety of their children.
Prostitution is illegal in Zimbabwe and those found guilty of prostitution could be fined or jailed.
“Prostitution is addressed in the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Part Three on Sexual Crimes and Crimes against Morality. In section 61, prostitute and prostitution are defined as follows: prostitute means a male or female person who for money or reward (a) allows other persons to have anal or extra-marital sex or engage in other sexual conduct with him or her; or (b) solicits other persons to have anal or extra-marital sex or engage in other sexual conduct with him or her.
“The constitution goes on to say that any person who publicly solicits another person for the purposes of prostitution shall be guilty of soliciting and liable to a fine not exceeding level five or imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months or both. But it’s not only the prostitutes and clients who face arrest even the taxi drivers and brothel owners do because they facilitate prostitution. Section 82 I think under Division E states that any person who keeps a brothel or provides a place where prostitution can take place is liable to a fine not exceeding level seven or imprisonment for a period not exceeding two years or both.”
