Man City complete transfer of Leeds United midfielder
City agreed a basic fee of £42million with Leeds for the England international last month, with a potential further £3m to be added in bonuses.
Kalvin Phillips came through the youth academy at Leeds United; Man City have paid a fee in the region of £45m to £50m for the England international; Midfielder has signed a six-year contract with Pep Guardiola’s side
Phillips completed his transfer move to Pep Guardiola’s side following a £50 million fee including add-ons was agreed on by both parties.
Manchester City are delighted to announce the signing of Kalvin Phillips on a six-year deal. The 26-year-old midfielder joins from Leeds United, having made 234 appearances over the course of eight seasons, scoring 14 goals and assisting 14. In addition to widespread admiration for his domestic performances with the Elland Road club, Kalvin has also received plaudits for his impressive individual and collective contribution to the England squad, reads part of the statement.
The England international has been brought in as replacement for Oleksandr Volodymyrovych Zinchenko who is linked with a transfer move away from Etihad.
After signing his contract, Phillips said:
