Tensions continue to rise amid pro-democracy protests in eSwatini (previously Swaziland), the last absolute monarchy on the African continent.

The protests began during the weekend with the protests turning increasingly violent overnight on Tuesday.

Reportedly there have been a number of videos and audios of people posing as Eswatini citizens burning tires, cars and shops.

According to one source, the protests are funded by outsiders who are pushing their own agendas.

Africa Times News Crew managed to speak to an anonymous source on the ground and they said “There are about nine Congolese citizens, two South African citizens and hundred and eighteen Armed Mozambican citizens who were arrested by security authorities and they are claiming that they were funded by outside groups to de-stabilize the country”.

Reports said, there are many fake accounts of people who claiming that, there are AMaEswatini putting out wrong information and taking pictures and putting on social media for misleading people. There are even top officials in the government who are working with these rogue protesters and and giving them money.

Some of the protester were seen wearing police uniforms and military uniforms and acting as if they want to intervene yet they do this for propaganda.

The South African government noted its concerns about the political crisis in neighboring eSwatini.

The government has also imposed strict curfew (18:00 to 05:00) in efforts to squash the mass protests. Schools are suspended and business have been ordered to close their operations at 15:30 hours. Banks were forced to close until the unrest stabilize.

  1. I believe this to be true, this is not emaswati in action, this is outsiders pushing their own agenda. Eswatini will rise!!
