Dynamos legend Chirambadare in sodomy rap, remanded in custody

Former Dynamos Football Club defender Itai Stanley Chirambadare appeared in court on Thursday accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy he was coaching at his academy in Mufakose until he developed piles.

Chirambadare, 56, was remanded in custody to May 13 for trial.

Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi told him his court had no jurisdiction to grant him bail considering the gravity of his charges and advised him to approach the High Court if he so wished.

The court heard that sometime in March 2021, the complainant would go to Chirambadare’s house together with a friend to help out with some sweeping, and they would be treated with sweets.

One day the plaintiff went alone to do the usual chores, prosecutors said, and the accused took advantage and sodomized him in his bedroom.

Chirambadare threatened to kill the boy if he told anyone, the court was told.

He went on to abuse the complainant on several occasions until he developed some piles, or bowel inflammations, prompting the 13-year-old to report the abuse to his uncle who helped him to file a police report.
