Dr. Vusumuzi Sibanda, of the African Diaspora Forum (ADF), has come out against labelling all migrants as criminals.
This comes in the wake of some social media messages that are fingering Zimbabweans as the main culprits behind cable theft particularly in regards with the country’s railway line.
“It is just people and mainly those who hate migrants that are pinning all the crime on foreign nationals.
Indeed, some foreign nationals could be involved as it is a crime that is often engaged by unemployed and homeless people and we also know of many migrants who are unemployed and homeless who are sharing spaces with South African citizens.

As a result, we could find some migrant people involved in that crime but to attribute that whole collapse on foreign nationals would not only be reckless but a gross misrepresentation of facts,” said the ADF chair.
